These walking sticks were being sold in aid of the Great North Air Ambulance and the gentelman shown here told us that they had over the years raised more than £28,000 for that cause. Alwinton Border Shepherds' Show, Northumberland.
Howick Hall and Bathing House
Charles, the second Earl Grey was prime minister from 1830 - 34 he had the great Reform Bill passed bringing about parliamentary reform in this country. This is Grey's Monument in the Centre of Newcastle upon Tyne. It stands at the head of Grey Street. His family lived at Howick in Northumberland.
Howick was the home of the Grey family from 1319 until 1963 This hall was built in 1782 changes were made in 1809 and again following a fire in the main hall in 1926. Howick, Northumberland.
Howick hall is renowned for its gardens and arboretum. The famous Earl Grey Tea was blended by a Chinese Mandarin to offset the taste of the lime in the water from the spring at Howick. When the tea became popular from the 1820s it was brought to market but the family were not credited with royalties. Howick, Northumberland.
