One mile north of Corbridge, Halton Castle is the home of Sir Hugh and Lady Blackett. In aid of The British Red Cross they hold an Open Garden day. We took the opportunity to enjoy the gardens and indulge in tea and cake and cream teas. Northumberland

We had our cream tea, on what was a very hot day, under the shade of a large chestnut tree with a view south to the tyne valley past this lovely willow tree. Halton Castle, Northumberland

We were down at the North Shield fish Quay for fish and chips when we saw the arrival of the "Planet Ace". This ship takes the Nissan car plant's exports to Europe. Here it returns for another load. The chap at the front of the photograph is gathering worms.
